Endurance race returns to Phakisa
Endurance racing will return to South Africa next year when the Free State Phakisa Raceway will host the second Africa 6-Hour Endurance race on February 22.

The event, held for the first time last year, was a great success and organizers believe next year’s event will be bigger and better.
It will be open to all Saloon and GT cars, plus sports prototype cars complying with MSA technical regulations, FIA LMP1 & LMP2 cars, GTE-Pro and GTE-Am vehicles.
Three drivers will be allowed per car with a maximum permitted driving time of two hours per stint.
In order to prevent the same drivers finishing first and second, drivers may only drive one car in the race.
Organised by Classic Car Events, the event is the brainchild of veteran motorsport adventurer Roger Pearce who believes there is room for a professional endurance event.
“It has always been my ambition to return endurance racing, run to International standards, back to South Africa. It was always popular with the public in days gone by and we see no reason why this cannot happen again.”
“We have a five-year plan to bring this series to fruition,” said Pearce.
Last year’s event was comfortably won by the Ecurie Zoo Pilbeam MP98 Cosworth of Duncan and Graham Vos, which covered 191 laps or 809 kilometres at an average speed of 134.4km/h.
