Hijackers take car and medical records

The woman’s wallet containing her driver’s licence, bank cards, X-rays, medical reports and her cellphone were taken along with the vehicle, police say.

A woman’s car was hijacked in the driveway of a friend’s house in Okapi Street, Edelweiss, in Ekurhuleni, Springs Advertiser reports.

The woman heard a knock on her window at 6pm just as she was driving into the property.

Captain Johannes Ramphora Springs police spokesperson said: “The suspect pretended he wanted to ask the woman something then pulled out a firearm, and the woman responded by putting her hands in the air.”

The woman said she told the suspect she would willingly get out of the vehicle.

Another suspect appeared on the scene, opened the passenger side of the vehicle and ordered his accomplice to let the woman go, and both suspects got into the vehicle and drove off.

Ramphora says the woman’s wallet containing her driver’s licence, bank cards, an undisclosed amount of cash, X-rays, medical reports and her cellphone were in the vehicle.

Police are investigating a case of hijacking.
