SA takes on Americans

A visiting team of American V8 Sprint Car drivers take on South Africa’s top contenders in the category at the Rock Raceway in Brakpan this Saturday.

Run as round two of the Ultimate Raceway Outlaws versus USA Outlaws Tour, 14 450kW V8 Sprint Cars with massive wings and tyres will be on track.

The American drivers will be Mike Stutsman, Jason Blonde, Tyler Roahrig and Brian Tyler.

Facing them will be local drivers Izak Spies, Liza van Zyl, Adriaan van Zyl, Jacques Roos, Jacques Schoeman, Pierre de Ridder, Eddie Drake, Jaco Correia, Roelf du Plessis and Andries Marx.

There will be a series of heats followed by a final at the end. Backing the international races will be events for Two-litre Modified Saloons, 1660 Modified Saloons, Midgets, Ultimate Saloons, Stock Rods, Shifter 125cc Karts, 125cc Karts, Ninja Midgets and Formula N cars.

  • The Rock Raceway gates will be open at 10am, with practice sessions for all contenders during the course of the day.
  • Racing will start at 4pm .
  • Admission will cost R100 per adult and R40 for kids between the ages of six and 12 years.
  • Food and drink will be on sale or you may take your own, with parking plentiful, free and patrolled.
