Edward Zuma owes attorneys who represented him in hate speech case – report

The attorneys have slapped him with a R45,662 lawsuit and are demanding he covers the cost for it.

Former president Jacob Zuma’s eldest son, Edward, will be dragged back to court over unpaid legal fees incurred during his hate speech case after he lashed out at the minister of public enterprises, Pravin Gordhan, and Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom.

Timeslive reports that Edward Zuma now has an outstanding bill of legal fees, this after he recently finally settled his hate speech fine ensuing from the case which was before the Durban Equality Court.

Attorneys that represented Zuma, SP Mncwango & Company based in Durban, have hit him with a lawsuit of R45,662, with the summons against him issued on February 28.

It was reported that despite Zuma being sent a statement of account on February 5 and a letter of demand due to be hand-delivered on February 11, he still has not paid the R45,662 outstanding legal fees.

The publication reported that the attorneys were yet to hear from the sheriff whether Zuma had received the letter of demand.

Furthermore, an interest rate of 15.5% as of February 28 to the deadline for payment has been set by the attorneys who are also demanding that Zuma cover the costs of the lawsuit.
