Two killed, five injured in NWest N12 head-on collision

Two men were killed and five other people were injured in a head-on collision on the N12 about 18km from Potchefstroom in the North West on Friday night, paramedics said.

“Shortly before midnight, paramedics from ER24 and provincial EMS arrived on the scene where they found the two vehicles with severe damage,” ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said on Saturday.

“Two men, the driver and passenger, were found with fatal injuries in one of the vehicles. Sadly, there was nothing that paramedics could do for them and they were declared dead on the scene.”

Five other men were found with various injuries, ranging from moderate to severe. They were treated on the scene and later taken to the Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital for further care. The cause of the collision was not yet known, Vermaak said.
