Plane crashes into Midrand house, killing two

A light aircraft crashed into a house in Vorna Valley on Monday, killing a gardener and the pilot.


A light aircraft crashed in Albertyn Street in Vorna Valley, Midrand, on Monday. Ria Sebetsa Security Services, Netcare 911 and residents are on the scene, reports Midrand Reporter.

According to Ria Sebetsa Security Services CEO,Danny Maduray, the aircraft crashed in the back yard of a residential property.

Although it has not yet been established how many occupants were aboard the plane, the pilot of the aircraft as well as a gardener have died. This is according to Netcare 911 Media Liason Officer Shawn Herbst.

“All necessary authorities are on scene and have secured the area for an SA Civil Aircraft  Aviation investigation,” Herbst said.

Motorists were urged to avoid Albertyn Street between Le Roux Avenue and Harry Galaun Drive, as the road was closed.
