Cosatu to debate call for Zuma to resign
The SACP also called on President Jacob Zuma to leave office over the weekend.

Cosatu could add to the growing calls for Zuma to step down when they conclude a discussion at their central executive committee meeting today.
According to EWN, Cosatu cannot escape the issue of calling on Zuma to resign because it has been placed firmly on the agenda by some national office bearers at the meeting.
On Friday, the SACP released an official statement confirming they no longer supported Zuma after a Cabinet reshuffle that saw former minister of finance Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas, fired.
“The recall from an overseas trip of comrades Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas while on a promotional tour in South Africa’s interests, and now the firing of these comrades and other well-performing ministers is more than regrettable.
“It is frankly outrageous, particularly while the worst performers in Cabinet continue to enjoy presidential protection and even, in some cases, promotion.
“This recklessness has provoked widespread concern and anger within the ANC itself and across all sectors of our society. We have reached a decisive moment in which, in the considered view of the SACP leadership, Zuma must now resign,” read part of the statement.
