Two KZN taxi bosses killed in drive-by shooting

Police are on the scene investigating what appears to be a drive-by shooting.

Two taxi bosses have been shot and killed in what appears to be a drive-by shooting in Area 1, Mslasini near Verulum in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), residents in the area contacted the private armed response team after hearing a volley of shots being fired.

“Some callers confirmed that two people were shot but were unable to confirm the extent of their wounds,” said the statement.

Reaction Officers and Rusa Medics have been dispatched, but on arrival the officers discovered the bodies of two men on the side of the road.

“They sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared deceased by medics.”

According to witnesses, the victims were taxi owners.

“They were talking to each other at the Mslasini Taxi Rank when the occupants of a white Ford Ranger opened fire on them,” said Rusa.

Investigations are currently underway.
