Sexual assault case against Centurion primary school teacher postponed
The case was postponed to February 13 and the teacher will remain in police custody.

The teacher accused of harassing approximately 23 learners at Valhalla Primary School, Centurion, is due back in court on February 13.
This comes after the teacher appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday where the case was postponed, with the teacher to remain in police custody until his next court appearance.
The teacher was arrested on Thursday, according to the spokesperson of the Gauteng department of education (GDE), Steve Mabona.
TimesLive reports that the court heard from the teacher that he had neither prior convictions nor pending cases, however, according to the state, the teacher had seven counts of sexual assault against him but investigations by the police were ongoing.
The department indicated earlier this week that the teacher had been precautionarily removed from the school to report to the district office.
The GDE said police were investigating a case of sexual assault, while a team of district officials, as well as the psycho-social unit, were dispatched to the school on Wednesday morning.
“The department has a zero-tolerance approach stance to allegations of sexual misconduct, and where the allegations are proven true, the department will not hesitate to take decisive action against the perpetrators.”
