Four teenagers arrested for murder in Pretoria

The deceased was with his girlfriend when he came across four men who produced two knives and started robbing them.


Temba police have arrested four men in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old man in Hammanskraal on Monday, reports Pretoria North Rekord.

Spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said the four aged between 16 and 17 were arrested on Monday around 04:00 at Ramotse village and Kekana Gardens in Temba.

“The suspects killed a man during a robbery at Ramotse around 11:30 Sunday night,” said Moremi.

He said the deceased was with his girlfriend when he came across four men who produced two knives and started robbing them.

“They took cellphones from the deceased and the girlfriend and they stabbed the deceased several times in the upper body,” he said.

The suspects fled and allegedly hid in a tavern in Leboneng village.

“Police, together with the deceased’s girlfriend, came across the suspects at 04:00 on Monday morning and the girlfriend managed to identify them,” he said.

Three were arrested on the spot while the fourth was found sleeping at his home.

The cellphones were found in their possession, as well as the two knives that were allegedly used in the crime.

They will appear at the Moretele magistrate’s court soon to face charges of murder and robbery.
