Late Alberton bar victim’s sister shares video of him in nature days before attack

'This is the memory we want everyone to have about Ludi Vink. Not the violent and inhumane video footage that has been released.'

A video of the late Ludi Vink – who was killed in an Alberton bar last week after he was stabbed in the face with a pool cue – enjoying a happy time was posted on Facebook by his sister, Karla, along with a plea for others to share this memory instead of the footage of the attack.

Karla’s Facebook post is doing the rounds on Facebook, having been viewed nearly 50 000 times, shared nearly 1 000 times and received over 300 reactions since it was posted last Friday.

In the post, Karla appeals to social media users to share the video and to stop sharing the footage of the attack.

“Please share. This is the memory we want everyone to have about Ludi Vink. Not the violent and inhumane video footage that has been released.

“Ludi was a lover, always. Here he is in nature with our dad, Lute Vink, the weekend before the attack,” the post on Karla’s Facebook page reads.

In the video, Ludi can be seen sitting on rocks and enjoying a refreshing rush of water plunge over him.

On Friday, a suspect, 52, was released on R5 000 bail after handing himself over in relation to Ludi’s murder, and the case was postponed to April 20 for further investigations.

According to the Alberton Record, while it was mentioned in the court that the suspect had cancer, the court did not give him bail for any special conditions.

According to a family member, Ludi tried to break up a fight to stop other men from attacking the bar owner when he was stabbed.
