Woman throws brick at four-year-old girl’s head

Police in Great Brak River in Mossel Bay have arrested a 24-year-old woman from Greenhaven after she and the father of a four-year-old girl got involved in a fight, prompting her to throw a brick at the child’s head, reports Mossel Bay Advertiser.

Police spokesperson Const. Laurianne Botha said the incident took place on Sunday afternoon.

“The child was in the father’s arms during the incident. The suspect wanted to throw the brick at him, but it hit the child on the head,” Botha said.

The little girl was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Mossel Bay. She was later discharged from hospital into the care of her father, after which the woman was arrested and charged with assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The suspect is in custody and is expected to appear in the Mossel Bay magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
