'He was shot before he got out of his car and the killers fled the scene.'

A 50 year-old magistrate was shot dead in his driveway at his home in Bronkhorstspruit, Pretoria East, on Wednesday 10 January, in what could be a possible ‘hit’, Pretoria Rekord East reports.

The shooting happened before 4pm just as the magistrate arrived home, said SAPS spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.

“He was shot four times before he even got out of his car and his attacker fled the scene,” said Dlamini.

He was declared dead at the scene.

A witness allegedly reported seeing a green Toyota Rav4 leave the scene.

Nothing was stolen from the victim, according to police.

Police will investigate links to cases the magistrate was working on as well as inspect CCTV footage from neighbouring businesses.

A murder case has been opened.
