Decomposed body of boy, 9, found in relative’s home

Muneiwa Tshirame was last seen at school on Thursday, 25 January.

The rural village of Dzimauli-Tshidzati and surrounding areas in Mutale, Limpopo, is still reeling after the discovery of the badly decomposed body of a young boy on Wednesday, 31 January, Capricorn Voice reports.

The boy, identified as Muneiwa Tshirame (9), was a Grade 3 learner at Tshavhadinda Primary School, after he transferred to the school at the beginning of the year.

His body was found in his father’s (not biological) RDP house.

According to the Principal, Tshisamphiri Ravhuanzwo, Muneiwa was last seen at the school on Thursday, January 25. When his father came to fetch him, Muneiwa seemed ill, following an injury at the school the previous day.

“Muneiwa’s father was called to take him to the clinic and that was the last day we saw him at school.

“We are all shocked and distressed by the incident, and it has left many learners traumatised.

“He was still a new learner at our school and we were in the process of building a relationship,” Ravhuanzwo said.

A family member, Ndivhuwo Nethomboni, said Muneiwa’s mother and father were divorced and his father demanded that Muneiwa move with him to Mutale.

“We are saddened and shocked by the discovery. Muneiwa had a bright future ahead of him which was taken away,” Nethomboni said.

Dzimauli village community leader, David Mabila, said the community was still in shock.

“We strongly condemn the abuse of women and children, and we hope the guilty parties will face the might of the law,” Mabila said.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed the incident, and said they have opened an inquest docket, adding investigations are still ongoing.

He urged anyone with information to contact the police.
