Mother and daughter kidnapped for ransom in Mpumalanga

Gloria Mtombifuthi Mbonani and her daughter allegedly got kidnapped on her way to a job interview.


A 33-year-old mother and her young daughter went missing on Friday in Witbank, Mpumalanga, Witbank News reports.

The mother of Gloria Mtombifuthi Mbonani and grandmother of Ndumiso Mbonani opened a case of kidnapping at Witbank Police Station on Friday.

She said her daughter went to Johannesburg for an interview and that she took her little one with her. When she tried to phone Gloria, her phone immediately went on to voicemail, but she received a message from her daughter’s phone at about 12pm the same day.

The message stated: “Am having your daughters if they behave I will let them go but if they don’t I’ll destroy them I’ll take them to North West. I will call you with my number to arrange money.”

It is unclear who kidnapped the two, and whether it’s her possible employees or a random person.
