Sassa beneficiaries urged to swap cards
Thousands of social grant beneficiaries have had their grants suspended until they swap their cards.
Sassa beneficiaries have been urged to swap their white cards with gold ones as soon as possible.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has released a statement to inform all social grant beneficiaries who have not yet swapped their old white cards to do so immediately, reports Krugersdorp News.
According to Nandi Mosia, spokesperson for Sassa, non-receipt of social grant payment for the month of April will be as a result of failure to swap the old card for the new gold card.

Nandi said, “In Gauteng only, a total of about 24,506 social grants belonging to beneficiaries who did not swap to the new gold card were suspended.”
“Sassa is appealing to the affected social grant recipients to visit their nearest local office to swap their cards and have their grants … restored.”
Beneficiaries are requested to bring along their identity documents and the old card they used to collect their grant. Those who are too old or sick to visit Sassa’s offices must call the nearest office to arrange for a home visit.
“Those beneficiaries receiving their money at other points of sale, such as banks, who wish to return to the Sassa card can do so at any of our offices,” she added.
