Security guard returns missing dog after KZN home invasion
The dog attempted to save its family during the home invasion, but was violently beaten by the intruders.
Hunter escaped after being beaten by intruders, but was found and returned by a Blue Security guard.
A Westville animal lover praised a Blue Security armed response officer for finding her beloved dog, Hunter, that went missing after a home invasion.
Chloe van Heerden, a volunteer for Mazarat Farm and Power Breed Rescue, and her boyfriend, were the victims of a home robbery recently that left her and her two dogs traumatised, reports Highway Mail.

Hunter bolted through the driveway gate when the suspects fled in her vehicle.
“We were assaulted and my dog went after the robbers and they hit him, kicked him, and hurt him. As soon as they opened the gate to steal my car, he ran out. My boyfriend and I ran but couldn’t find Hunter anywhere,” said Van Heerden.
Armed response officer Sithembile Felebe, who was responding to the panic alarm activation, saw the dog under a bridge near a stop sign.
“He ran to the vehicle and I opened the windows and he jumped in. I drove to the panic alarm and the owners of the property were out looking for the dog. I waited there and the dog was with me in the vehicle,” he said.
Van Heerden was relieved when she arrived home to find Hunter sitting safely in the officer’s vehicle.
“The officer, instead of freaking out and trying to get the dog out of the car, brought him back to the scene where he had been called, which turned out to be Hunter’s home. I just want to say a huge thank you to that officer,” she said
Van Heerden is a regular volunteer for Mazarat Farm and Power Breed Rescue and takes in abandoned puppies that need to be bottle fed every two hours.
