Holomisa says ANC needs to go back to its original agenda

He said a new alliance was needed because the current alliance has failed dismally.

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa has re-affirmed that the country urgently needs a change in its political landscape.

Speaking during a council meeting, the party’s leader stated that the stance has always been the position of the UDM which was endorsed in their last congress in Bloemfontein.

Speaking on broadcaster Newzroom Afrika he said: “If we allow one political party thinking it can dislodge this corrupt government, we are wasting our time”.

New alliance

“Hence, we have been calling for a convention which will include political parties, including members of the ruling party who are interested to look into the future of South Africa because currently, there is no leadership as you can see that the country is on slippery slope,” said Holomisa.

He also said that it was imperative that political parties go back to the original agenda, that was set by the ruling party, of improving the quality of all South Africans.

“So we need a new alliance, because the current alliance has failed dismally,” he concluded.

Investigation

In March, Holomisa called on Parliament to consider appointing a retired judge to look into information or evidence that the State Capture Commission of Inquiry might have missed.

At the time, Holomisa wrote a letter to National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula claiming that his party submitted evidence of state capture to the commission, but it seemed the information might have been deliberately ignored

This followed a report in the Sunday Independent alleging an explosive affidavit implicating several high-profile individuals and politicians in corruption was disregarded by the commission that was chaired by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
