The humble dwelling from which the Gupta empire was bought

Mzwanele Manyi's supposed business 'headquarters' for his Lodidox company has caused a riot on social media.

Former spin doctor Mzwanele Manyi’s acquisition of Gupta-owned media assets for a combined value of R450 million has not escaped the wrath of social media pro-bono investigators.

Manyi, who recently renounced his ‘slave name’, Jimmy, and now prefers to be addressed as Mzwanele, acquired both ANN7 and The New Age from the Guptas in a deal most analysts warned was overpriced.

Social media is abuzz with pictures of the headquarters of Lodidox, whose headquarters’ address is registered to a house in Zone 4, Meadowlands, in Soweto.

In response to The Sowetan report this morning about the house, currently being used as offices for Decolonisation Foundation, another outfit Manyi is in charge of, some readers quipped that the modest house and the fact that it accommodates a business that purchased a multimillion-rand company was “radical economic transformation”.

Social media has been going crazy since pictures of the supposed headquarters emerged, with some questioning how the money was raised.

“Just look at the front of this house, pun intended,” said one of the users.

These were some of the comments on social media:

Manyi told the media in several interviews since the purchase was announced that he did not believe the purchase price was inflated and he would be “unashamedly” knocking at government doors for advertising revenue.
