Two people were injured after the protest action on the Umgeni Road area in the north of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, turned explosive on Wednesday morning, reports the Northglen News.
According to Rescue Care’s Garreth Jamieson, the two men, aged 29 and 35, sustained minor injuries after protesters tossed a petrol bomb at a truck on Umgeni Road.
The protest action erupted in the Springfield Park area on Wednesday morning, forcing authorities to close off Election Road. According to reports, the protesters burnt tyres in the road.
Protesters were then reportedly dispersed.
This follows after the protesters disrupted traffic along the M19 towards Pinetown on Monday and then again on Tuesday along the Umgeni interchange.
The motivation behind the protest action remains unclear.
