Two suspects arrested for possession of stolen Sunbeam appliances

When questioned, the suspects couldn't produce any proof of purchase or invoice for the items.

Two suspects, aged 45 and 46, have been arrested after they were found with boxes of stolen electrical Sunbeam appliances in Rhodesfield, on the East Rand.

The two were arrested by members of Kempton Police’s crime prevention unit, who were doing their patrols on Albatross Street, Kempton Express reported.

During their patrols, they pulled over a white Opel Corsa Lite on Thursday last week at about 6.30pm.

According to the police’s spokesperson, Captain Jethro Mtshali, upon searching the vehicle, they found a large number of boxes containing electrical appliances such as kettles, fans, DVD players and PlayStation consoles.

“When questioned, the suspects couldn’t produce any proof of purchase or invoice for the items,” Mtshali said.

“The two suspects, both Nigerian nationals, were arrested and will face charges of possession of suspected stolen goods.”

Police also impounded the Corsa Lite, as it is alleged to have been used in the crime.
