Woman killed in rear-end accident

The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.

A woman was killed and two others injure when a light-motor vehicle rear-ended another on the N12 westbound near the Tom Jones exit in Benoni.

“ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene on Saturday and found both light-motor vehicles in the slow lane of the highway,” Russel Meiring of ER24 said.

Meiring added that upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a woman in her 30s trapped in the front motor vehicle. Nothing could be done for the woman, and she was later declared dead on the scene.

“Four other people from the second vehicle were found walking around on the scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found two had sustained moderate injuries while the remaining two escaped injury.”

The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to hospital for further treatment, Kempton Express reported.

The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
