Letters: Unsung heroes on the fight against crime
"Zinkwazi Neighbourhood Watch would therefore wish, on behalf of the community, to sincerely thank Z2 Security and Alpha Security for their joint pre-planned stake-out two weeks ago which resulted in the apprehension of 3 perpetrators - 2 of whom were key figures known to have been highly active along the coast" - Cliff Hatt.

Cliff Hatt of Zinkwazi Neighbourhood Watch writes:
Crime on the North Coast has increased in intensity over the last 12 months and many homeowners have felt the effects of it and have been angered or felt violated.
None more so than the various Neighbourhood Watches who volunteer their services as they attempt to pre-empt or reduce crime.
Zinkwazi Neighbourhood Watch would therefore wish, on behalf of the community, to sincerely thank Z2 Security and Alpha Security for their joint pre-planned stake-out two weeks ago which resulted in the apprehension of 3 perpetrators – 2 of whom were key figures known to have been highly active along the coast.
Z2’s Francois Snyman has consequently worked hard with Saps to link fingerprinted burglaries as far afield as Umhlali so that an effective sentence might be imposed on these perpetrators.
The fact that both of them had been released on early parole from previous sentences will hopefully assist in making this a watertight case.
ZNW and the community also extend their gratitude to Director Marius Prinsloo and his hardworking associates in the KDM Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) for their presence and authority over the Easter weekend in politely but firmly maintaining law and order at all North Coast beaches and parks whilst allowing visitors and holidaymakers to still have fun.
Not an easy task whilst also dealing with traffic accidents and protests.
We thank all of you for time spent assisting us as best possible at all times.
