Praise for Durban Girls’ College’s resilient matriculants

The Durban Girls’ College Class of 2021 has done themselves proud.

The outstanding performance of these students is testament to their hard work and dedication.

These girls have performed exceptionally well while navigating the difficulties of living through a pandemic.

As Anne Oberholzer (CEO of the IEB) mentioned in her press release: “The class of 2021 had to find new ways to deal with the challenges they were served and build the resilience, courage and persistence to overcome them. Overcoming these difficulties has been the true achievement of the class of 2021 and this experience can only benefit them on their path of lifelong learning.”

DGC Head of Academics, Jen Harrison, said the excellent performances in Grade 12 was a cumulative effort and relied on the building blocks prepared in lower grades.

“Congratulations to all the staff who have prepared the Class of 2021 to get them to this high end point.

“To the Grade 12 teachers, thank you for the hours of hard work you have put in to develop these young women of significance.

“Recognising the pupils who performed well is important but acknowledging that pupils have achieved the goals they set for themselves is also vital. Our mission is to provide a unique educational journey, to inspire girls to realise their potential. Many of these girls have attained personal bests in the marks which they have achieved; we are proud of them.”

Harrison said she wished the 2021 cohort well as they disembarked from the galleon and looked forward to “watching their progress as they go forth and enrich our world”.
