Kearsney College provides a dynamic environment to promote sport excellence and healthy sportsmanship.

The college has a proud track record of producing provincial and national sport achievers across the sport codes every year.

Kearsney’s vision for sport is part of a broad and integrated approach to wellness, believing that participation in sport is integral to a boy’s personal development and has a policy of “sport for all”.

The college’s ethos is to promote sportsmanship and healthy competition.

This includes promoting a culture of fair play and respect, encouraging mass participation, a code of conduct for on-field behaviour, moderation of expectations and promoting social, health and community benefits.

Sport develops many valuable life skills and provides important life lessons – a critical part of a boy’s holistic education.

A win at all costs attitude at schoolboy level is not advisable.

The variety of sport on offer at Kearnsey include basketball, canoeing, cricket, cross-country, golf, hockey and indoor hockey, rugby and sevens rugby, soccer, squash, swimming, tennis and water polo.

Teams are coached by highly trained and experienced Kearsney teachers who understand the college’s ethos of prioritising educational, emotional and social well-being.

Professional coaches are utilised where appropriate for specialist training and developing the boys’ skills and fitness.

There are more than 20 other sport facilities at the college, including immaculately kept sport fields, 2 swimming pools, a floodlit astro turf hockey field, international standard basketball courts and a world-class SportZone.

The High Performance Programme provides individualised programmes for learners, which includes conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition, integrated sport injury management, coaching clinics, video analysis, professional consultants and tours and sport festivals.

Whether learners have ambitions to become international sportsmen, or just want to enjoy the fun and camaraderie of playing with their friends, Kearsney is the right sport environment for them.
