Man-hunt for alleged serial rapist who escaped police custody in Eshowe

The 23-year-old Mandeni man escaped police custody yesterday.

A Mandeni man on trial for multiple rapes, attempted murder and house robbery is being hunted by police after he escaped yesterday.

Twenty-three-year-old Lungelo Diploma Nzuza (Khaba) was appearing in court on 5 charges of rape, 1 charge of attempted murder and 2 charges of house robbery when he escaped the custody of the iLembe District Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.

The FCS has warned iLembe residents not to approach him as he is considered dangerous.

Khaba is originally from Lambothi in Nyoni district of Mandeni municipality, but escaped while in custody in Eshowe.
