Heroin bust in Hambanathi, Tongaat

Drugs at a combined value of about R34 890 were found in two different homes.

A man and a woman were arrested for possession and drug dealing in Tongaat last week.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said officers from the provincial drug and firearm unit were conducting an operation in Hambanathi town.

Drugs were found in two different homes with an estimated combined value of R34 890.

“They found a 30-year-old man in possession of 474 blue and white capsules of heroin amounting to R11 500.

“The drugs were seized and the suspect was arrested.

“The team proceeded to another house where they arrested a 39-year-old woman after she was found in possession of 7600 heroin capsules amounting to R23 390,” said Mbele.

They both appeared at Verulam Magistrates Court.
