Man arrested for raping 12-year-old girl in Shakaville

The suspect will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday).

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Shakaville on Monday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

He was apprehended by community policing forum (CPF) members, who then contacted the KwaDukuza police to hand him over.

It is alleged the man called the girl to his rented room.

When she entered, he closed the door and pushed the victim onto a bed and raped her.

KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident.

“The suspect was charged with rape and will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday),” he said.
