Two people were killed and 29 were injured in accidents on the North Coast this weekend.

The most recent accident took place on Monday on the R614 in Tongaat when a bus and taxi collided.

Netcare911 spokesman Chris Botha said one person was killed on impact and 15 others injured, one critically.

Four people were injured after a vehicle overturned on the R102 between Ballito and Tongaat on Sunday night at around 8.30pm.

A bakkie carrying four women on the back was heading south when it veered into the northbound lane, collided with a car and overturned, throwing the women onto the road.

Botha said the women were seriously injured and are recovering in nearby hospitals.

On Sunday two people were injured when their car overturned around a bend on the Tinley Manor link road near Ballito.

“KwaDukuza firemen found a man still trapped in the car. The jaws of life were used to cut him out,” said Botha.

A taxi and car collided on the R102 near Groutville on Sunday morning. One person was killed and seven injured, four critically.

“The jaws of life were used to free two people who were trapped inside the cars.”
