Etete rape case angers community
Residents threaten to take the law in their own hands.
Etete community members protested outside KwaDukuza Magistrate court this morning, threatening to kill the man accused of raping and killing a five-year-old girl.
The community’s anger was expressed when the bail hearing was postponed for next week Wednesday, September 16.
Community policing forum chairperson in Velani township, Bongumusa Mkhize said they feel that the court is wasting time.
“Why does the case keep on being postponed, because there is evidence that proves that the accused is guilty. The court only has to do one thing and that is granting him bail or not,” said Mkhize.
He said they have been trying to calm down the angry residents and allow the law to take its course and if he is granted bail, the court should know that they handed him over to the hands of the angry residents.
