Cash-in-transit robbery at Stanger Manor garage
An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
Police are investigating a cash-in-transit robbery that took place at a fuel garage in Stanger Manor on Saturday morning.
KZN SAPS said it is alleged that at around 11.45am on Saturday, an unknown number of suspects armed with firearms approached two security guards who were collecting cash from the Engen convenience store on the R74.
They robbed them at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of money and their firearms.
According to reports a third security guard tried to block the entrance of the shop with the armoured vehicle and trap the robbers, but allegedly a shootout ensued.
KZN police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said the security guard driving the vehicle was shot in the leg and is recovering in hospital.
The suspects allegedly fled in different vehicles and no arrests have been made.
