Highlight your best bits

Know what to look for that will suit your face shape.

Knowing your face and body shape and how to make the best of the shape you are, is a skill anyone can learn.

A group of ladies enjoyed gaining this self empowering knowledge from Roslyn Faber and Sarah Swainson recently over a glass of wine and a salmon croissant at Simbithi’s elegant wine cellar.

First off, Faber said you need to know what face shape you are and what type of eyes you have, in order to find the most flattering hairstyle, make up and even glasses.

With a swish of her magic make up brush, a measuring tape and a few little sticks, she evaluated the ladies’ faces.

“There are seven face shapes, with oval being the most perfect shape,” said Faber.

She said square faces should go for a layered fringe look to soften the edges, while oblong faces should stick to a shorter hairstyle, with a little volume on the sides, but not on top.

“Diamond faces on the other hand need some height and a tapered in cut around the cheekbones. Heart faces do well with a nice fringe and a little volume at the bottom.”

Now it was time for the bodies.

Salt Rock’s Swainson from Sarah Elizabeth online lingerie gave the women some tips on swimwear styles.

“Do not be so hard on yourself. Learn which body shape you have and make it work for you. There is a swimwear style for each body shape, so everyone can look and feel good on the beach,” said Swainson.

The afternoon ended with a delicious selection of cakes and the ladies left with the tools to look their best.
