Policemen gunned down in Gingindlovu

Officer fighting for his life in Ballito hospital.

Two policemen were shot multiple times in a vicious attack on the R102 near Gingindlovu this morning.

One officer died and another was shot five times in the head, face, stomach, and both legs.

Advanced life support paramedics kept the critically wounded officer alive on a manual ventilator in the ambulance while rushing him to Alberlito hospital in Ballito.

The officer is in a critical but stable condition and doctors are doing everything in their power to save the wounded police officer’s life.

The two policemen had pulled over a suspicious looking white Toyota Quantum minibus when the passengers opened the doors and opened fire.

“They literally riddled the police vehicle with bullets,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.

An unconfirmed message is going around on various Whatsapp groups saying there were about 15 people in the Quantum and that it had orange and red down the side.

According to the message, the minibus fled south on the R102 with Mandeni SAPS in pursuit.
