Gingindlovu policeman fighting for his life
Officer transferred from Netcare Alberlito to Durban hospital.
The life of a policeman continues to hang in the balance, after two officers were gunned down on the R102 in Gingindlovu yesterday.
Constable Senzo Ndwandwe (37) was first taken to Alberlito Hospital and then transferred to St Augustine’s Hospital in Durban yesterday afternoon.
He remains in a critical condition after being shot five times in the head, face, stomach and legs.
His partner, the 52-year-old warrant officer Jeriko Mdletshe was shot in the neck and declared dead at the scene of the shooting.
The two officers were shot when they responded to a report of suspicious men near the Gingindlovu shopping centre.
The occupants of a white Toyota, parked on the side of the R102, opened fire on the officers when they approached the car.
They sped off and the car was later found abandoned a few kilometres away.
