The Miss Ballito 2015 contest, organised by the Rotary Club of Zimbali, raised R40 000 for charity.
Zimbali Rotary president Kosh Thaver distributed the profits to two North Coast charitable organisations, Summerhill House and the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.
Speaking at the handover ceremony last week, Thaver congratulated Miss Ballito winner Khanyisile Zondo and thanked the organising committee for their hard work in running the spectacular contest, now in its fifth year.
Lisa Worthy of Summerhill House thanked Rotary and said the orphanage would not be able to operate without the generosity of Rotary Zimbali and the North Coast community.
She said two more houses for orphans would be complete before the end of the year.
Rose Stephenson of the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund said that the Courier was proud to be associated with the club.
“The Orphan Fund was extremely grateful for its ongoing support. The Fund’s chief aim is to enable orphaned and other disadvantaged children to receive education,” said Stephenson.
