A man was arrested in Stanger yesterday after he was found in the possession of whoonga packaged in straws and capsules.
KwaDukuza police arrested a man in Stanger yesterday after he was allegedly found in the possession of a large amount of whoonga.
The man, who is appearing in court today on charges of possession with intent to distribute, was found with 100 capsules containing whoonga, which police say is a new way of disguising the drug.
He was also carrying a number of straws also filled with the same drug.
KwaDukuza SAPS acting station commander, Colonel Mdumseni Nene confirmed the arrest and this new method of packaging the drug.
“We arrested the man yesterday for being in possession of whoonga and we can confirm that the drug was packaged in capsules, which is new as whoonga is usually packaged in straws,” said Nene, who added that the capsules are pink and white and resemble ‘flu medication.
According to police, whoonga is a mixture of different drugs including heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and mandrax and is used widely across the North Coast area.
