Umhlali SAPS attended the following crimes this weekend:
* Business robbery reported in Shaka’s Head on Friday.
* A man jumped out of a moving ambulance in Umhlali on Friday. He later died at a police station. Apparently the man was mentally disturbed.
* Two women posing as house buyers, asked to look around a house in Madeline Drive, Ballito on Friday, but proceeded to steal laptops.
* A man was stabbed in Shaka’s Head on Saturday.
* A car was stolen from the underground parking at Ballito Lifestyle Centre on Sunday.
Ballito Lifestyle Centre operations manager, Stephanie Sherriff responds: “With reference to the stolen car, this has been unfortunate. Our total number of car thefts under the watchful eye of Enforce for the last nine years, amounts to four. In this instance it was quiet difficult for the security officer to discern that the car was being stolen, as there was no forced entry, no broken windows, no tampering of the car lock as can be seen on our exit camera). There was no remote jamming either as none of our remote jamming devices were activated. The driver on exit was unidentifiable as the car was tinted. SAPS was called to site, unfortunately the vehicle could not be immediately circulated as the complainant was not sure of his vehicle registration number.”
* A Salt Rock resident, from Ezuluni Estate, found his house broken into on Sunday. Money was stolen.
Umhlali SAPS advise residents and holidaymakers not to leave valuable items in their cars when they are going to the beach.
They also urge residents to report crimes against women and children and human trafficking.
Police ask residents who applied for competency certificates and firearm licences to go to the firearm office at the station for collection from Monday to Wednesday before 10am.
