Hollywood beckons for Ballito’s tiny dancer

"I just want to be able to use the talent God has given me and dance all the time" -Bianca Vinay.

“If you do not have your fishing line in the water you cannot catch any fish,” were Bianca Vinay’s father, Kersley’s advice to her before a last-minute decision to go to the audition at La Montagne. An audition that would change her life.

Vinay has been spotted by International scout, Kim Myers, to perform at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS) in Orlando, Florida in July in front of hundreds of international agents representing studios like Sony, Disney, Tyler Perry Studios and Nickelodeon.

“I just want to be able to use the talent God has given me and dance all the time,” said Vinay.

Attending the International Talent Search audition in her home town of Ballito was touch and go for Vinay who initially doubted the credibility of the audition for which she had to pay to enter (she said auditions were usually free). Auditioning was at the last minute, that Vinay had absolutely nothing prepared and had to rely on her freestyling abilities after registering late and telling organisers she could not stay long because she had two other gigs to get to in Pietermaritzburg.

“I entered late so was meant to audition last but they changed the whole programme around so that I could audition first and rush off to my other gigs,” said Vinay who was over the moon to get an immediate call-back to the national auditions in Johannesburg, where she earned a call-back to perform at ARTS in America.

Performers signed at ARTS are multi-talented and although her passion is dancing, Vinay will perform in five ARTS sub-categories including dance, television commercial, adult acting monologue, creative runway and photography.

By the time Vinay gets to Orlando she would have completed two intensive training camps where all the South Africans, who have been chosen to go to America, are coached and trained to take their craft to the next level.

Unfortunately auditioning on one of the biggest talent stages on the planet comes with a hefty price tag, exacerbated by the poor Rand/Dollar exchange rate.

“The model management package is not all inclusive and I have to pay for my own flights to and from America, internal flights in America, insurance, meals, taxis and a Visa,” said Vinay who is full of fund-raising ideas but repeatedly gets stonewalled by expensive venue hire costs.

Vinay, a product of Breakthru Dance Company in Durban is focused on making a success of her dancing career and sees herself working in America in theatre shows, music videos, commercials and as a back-up dancer.

Vinay needs to raise R100000 and can be contacted via email b.k.vphotography@gmail.com on Facebook: Bianca “Lil Dance Beast” Vinay. She also has an online fund-raising campaign, of which the link will be on The Courier website (embedded in the story).
