It’s to die for!
KDM spokesperson, Sphelele Ngobese said the upgraded cemetery will accommodate more than 1383 corpses.
To cope with the increased demand for funeral and burial services, KwaDukuza municipality has spent R4 million upgrading the KwaDukuza cemetery and building a new crematorium.
This follows a previous upgrade and expansion of the crematorium in 2014 when the building was re-roofed and re-painted and a new crematorium machine installed.
The municipality said at the time the upgrades were necessary because people from as far afield as Matubatuba use the KDM crematorium.
KDM spokesperson Sphelele Ngobese said the upgraded cemetery will accommodate more than 1383 corpses.
KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu visited the site on Wednesday, April 6, and gave a nod of approval to the upgrades. He said human life was important and deserved dignified treatment, even after people have passed away.
“We believe it is integral to the life of human beings that those who depart from the world are laid to rest in a peaceful and dignified manner.” said Mthembu.
The latest developments at the cemetery include roadworks, fencing, concrete footpaths and storm water chutes.
