Dolphin Coast Hospice in-patient facility on its way

After being in operation for 14 years, the Dolphin Coast Hospice was donated land in Stanger, by KwaDukuza municipality, to open their first in-patient facility.

The non-profit organisation provides care to terminally ill patients and relies completely on donations, sponsorship and volunteers to help the terminally ill to die with dignity.

Patients who were able to travel have for years met at Stanger community hall once a week for a day of socialising and pampering. For many these meals are their only proper food for the week.

Speaking at the official hand-over of the land on Thursday, July 21 chairperson, Krish Venkatasamy thanked KwaDukuza municipality for the generous donation.

“This event is a milestone for Dolphin Coast Hospice. We serve terminally ill patients within Ilembe with quality, supportive care, ensuring all their needs are met. Acquiring land is the first step forward.

“However, we are hoping to get the building started as soon as possible. We welcome donations to get the construction phase on its way.”
