WATCH: Westville gathers in memory of Ballito shop owner Gary Mackay

The highway community turned up in force to show their support for the Mackay family.

Hundreds of community members gathered at Duncan Park in Westville for the memorial walk in honour and memory of Gary Mackay on Wednesday evening, who was killed in his home while protecting his family last Saturday morning reported the Highway Mail.

Ballito’s Awesym Skin and Body owner, Symone Mackay tragically lost her husband, Gary, when their Westville home was burgled this weekend.

Gary reportedly heard noises downstairs in the early hours of Saturday morning and  was allegedly shot in the abdomen during a struggle.

One of his high school friends launched a Go Fund Me campaign to help raise funds for the grieving family.
