VIDEO: Injured passengers lifted, taxi went over cliff, Glendale

The taxi driver had to extricated using specialised equipment.

A taxi with nine occupants rolled about 100 metres down a cliff in the Glendale area early this morning.

“The driver was critically injured and had to be extricated using specialised extrication equipment provided by the KwaDukuza Fire Department,” said IPSS Medical Rescues Dylan Meyrick.

 

“A technical rope rescue system was set up by paramedics, the Umhlali search and rescue to lift the injured driver and injured passengers up the cliff. Five people were taken to hospital and four suffered minor injuries. The provincial ambulance service assisted.”
