Sewage streams onto Ballito’s main beach
Last night's storm appears to have damaged the sewerage system.
Ballito’s flagship beach is awash with raw sewage after a manhole was reportedly moved by rough seas pounding the beach during last night’s storm.
Tourists and locals were greeted by the sewage overflowing from three manholes at Willard Beach this morning.
The resulting stench was offensive and unpleasant for beachgoers.

According to KwaDukuza life guards, the problem was discovered in the early hours of this morning.
Sembcorb Siza Water workers who were sent to assess the situation confirmed that the storm had displaced one pipe and blocked another causing the remaining three to overflow.

Holidaymaker Deon Rylan who was visiting Ballito with his family said he was disappointed with the state of the beach.
“We live in Johannesburg and when we visit we love to play in the ocean. I am put off by the smell and I will not let my kids play in the water,” he said.
Sembcorb Siza Water could not be reached to give an official responce at the time of publication.
