Shots fired during Ballito bank card robbery

The owner of the bank card chased after the robber, reportedly firing shots at him.

A man was allegedly robbed of his bank card at an FNB ATM near the Shell garage at around 11am this morning in Ballito.

According to Umhlali SAPS spokesperson Vinny Pillay, the robber grabbed the card at the ATM and ran away.

“The owner of the card chased after him and shots were fired [reportedly by the victim].

“The robber managed to get away and was not injured.

“No arrests have been made yet,” said Pillay.

Reports of a hijacking have been circulating on social media but Pillay confirmed that this was not the case.
