Hoax alert: ‘Blood gang’ member warning from Chubb
A tried and tested hoax is doing the rounds again - don't fall for it.

An old hoax email has once again raised its head and is doing the rounds on social media. In its current incarnation, the hoax comes in the form of a letter under Chubb Security‘s letterhead.
The letter warns people not to flash headlights at other cars driving at night without their lights on, claiming that it is a “Blood” gang member going through his initiation.
The letter goes on to explain this “initiation.” The new gang member drives along with no headlights and the first car to flash him becomes his target, he must then chase down the car that flashed him and kill all the occupants to finish his initiation.
This is a hoax.
Nobody is going to kill you for flashing your lights at them – at least not for this reason.
A spokesperson for Chubb, Lynn Bennett said that this hoax has been floating around for years and pops up every so often.
“Chubb SA did not endorse this statement,” said Bennett.
“This letter first surfaced in 2008/9 and we dealt with the issue at the time, stating that this was never an official Chubb communiqué.
“Unfortunately with most emails and messages on social network platforms, they lay dormant for awhile and then start doing their rounds again.”
This letter is a recurring hoax and should be ignored, it is believed to have originated overseas and has been around for up to the past 20 years.
