Ocean Drive collapsing after pipe bursts in Chakas Rock
Be careful when using Ocean Drive as the road surface is deteriorating with every car that passes.
A pipe under Ocean Drive in Chakas Rock burst this afternoon, leading to the complete collapse of a part of the road.
Shortly before 3pm this afternoon the pipe burst and water began wearing the road away.
Since then warnings have been doing the rounds on social media to avoid the road if at all possible as it is continuing to deteriorate.
Ward 22 Councillor Malcolm Hubner said that he was aware of the problem.
“I sent a message to KDM’s civil department and was told somebody is on the way to deal with this burst pipe and the collapsing road.
“A traffic officer has also been dispatched to direct motorists around the collapsing portion of the road.”
Motorists are urged to use an alternative route as the road is continuing to collapse and traffic in the area is being adversely affected.
