Appreciating those who change lives
Phathabakhe Shezi started the Ilembe Life Changers Awards to honour those who are most deserving of recognition
There are many people who are changing people’s lives around the Ilembe region and they get no recognition.
An enthusiastic young man from Lindelani, Phathabakhe Shezi started the Ilembe Life Changers Awards to honour those people.
Shezi said there are many people who work because they were given an opportunity, not because they like their jobs.
This may create a lack of commitment and passion. The Life Changers’ aim is to bring back the passion, commitment, love and excellence in all fields of work.
“I want to honour those who work to make a change in people’s lives. The awards were started in 2015 and it is also a platform for young musicians,” said Shezi.
Shezi is urging the public to start sending through their preferred candidates for these annual awards. The nomination fee is R500. The nomination process for various categories is open until May 12.
“The nominee’s party will be held on May 19 at Hampshire Hotel. We urge the public to start submitting the forms with the names of their nominees,” said Shezi.
The awards are organised by Dlaba Production in partnership with Umusa events and Shezi thanked everyone who had contributed in making these awards a success over the years.
He further thanked KwaDukuza municipality for sponsoring the awards this year.
Among the categories that the public can nominate people for are radio categories, community development categories, best community leader, best entrepreneur, best high school, best CSI project and music categories. The winners recieve a R3000 cash prize with their award.
