Father and daughter swept out at Clarke Bay

The father went in to help his daughter, when they both were swept out

A father dived into the surf after his daughter got into trouble at Clarke Bay, Ballito on Saturday and both were caught in a rip.

They were rescued by KwaDukuza lifeguards.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Paul Herbst, the teenage daughter got into trouble while on her bodyboard.

“The father got into the water to help her and they both got swept out.

“KwaDukuza lifeguards found the holidaymakers from Johannesburg about 100m off shore and pulled them back to the beach,” said Herbst.

KwaDukuza lifeguard supervisor Bongani Xulu said the father had a back operation recently, so it took some time to get him in safely.

Herbst said besides the father swallowing a lot of water, they were fine and no further treatment was needed.
