The situation at the Port entrance (Newark Road) turned violent this morning, as police fired shots and contractors bulldozed down infrastructure – rolling a police van with the digger bin – at the main entrance, reports the Zululand Observer.
Community members have been advised to stay away from the area, and employers there have sent staff home for their own safety.
