Shortly before midday today one man was killed when his vehicle crashed into a truck on the N2 near Mandeni.
According to IPSS Medical’s Paul Herbst the driver of a white golf lost control in the wet weather on the N2 southbound and his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic.
“He hit a truck head-on and the vehicle disintegrated on impact.
“The driver of the truck did not have any injuries,” Herbst said.
The northbound lane was closed after the accident and traffic remains affected.

Conditions on the roads are very hazardous, with constant rain, mist and water on the road along the N2 and M4.
Meanwhile IPSS responded to another single-vehicle accident on the N2 near the Umhlali/Salt Rockoff-ramp.
One person was treated for moderate injuries and taken to hospital.
It has been a busy weekend for emergency personel, Herbst told The Courier that IPSS had responded to 32 accidents since Friday with three fatalities.
Motorists are urged to reduce speed, turn on their lights and be on the lookout for puddles that could cause them to aquaplane and lose control.
